last sunday i caught the furniture gig at substation and it was well worth the 3 hr wait (performances by other bands). what i didn't understand, and still don't understand, is why substation can't provide a proper stage for the artists who perform there. i mean, a 600mm platform would be more than enough for people to be able to stand up and be able to see at the back cos the place is not too big anyway. seriously, what's the point of attending a gig when everyone must sit on the ground?
but they were good. here's a short video.
i think underground music has its charms because its so raw. the unpolished sounds of rock in my opinion beats over-edited music. i don't particulary wish for furniture to turn mainstream (not unless they wish it themselves) but i wouldn't mind if they made their records more easily available. if anyone is interested you can get a copy of their album 'twilight chases the sun' at straits records.
