left, top to bottom: work-living area, living area per se, workspace, kitchen area, food in our cabinet, common toilet (yk and sio's), d's bedroom (just got the red futon sofa bed up today), better view of d's bedroom and futon-bed-chair, yk's bedroom, sio's bedroom.
sio has pictures of our initial setting up of all the IKEA furniture. we decided to go with a quasi-mod living theme for the house--as you can see--and go for colors and quasi-designy items that really cost too much for us poor asian girls. in any case, the house is pretty nice as it is, although i must say that maintenance of a home can really be a chore; finally understand how my parents and grandparents feel about house-keeping.
still, we're short of a common workspace table in the working area. the small white table is supposed to join the rest of the computer tables against the wall, and in place we're gonna try to get a huge ass table ala NUS studio common tables for model-making. i'm also desperately trying to seek out a cheap white board for design purposes, but have yet to see any on sale.
apart from work-related furniture, bedrooms are also wanting a couple of bedside tables for our mess. other than that, i'm glad to say that we've more or less settled our home setup business for now.
oh... i forget. tomorrow we're hunting for a scanner and printer! really need those soon because commercial printers here aren't cheap and scanners are not exactly very accessible either. infrastructure wise, i must say that NUS (and sg in general) seems to be a few steps ahead. guess there is some good in the stigmata of land-scarcity.
... .. .
my first day of school was quite a drag really. i think i need to re-accustom myself to the drudgery of school-going and homework all over again. it's been a long while since i had any real assignment that i pay good money to do. the good thing is that the modules--at least just my theory and studio--are of some personal interest. those of you who don't know it yet, my brief is to design an alteration (addition, extension, etc) to a local (australian) Modernist building. this follows my recent interest in the treatment of Modern buildings in terms of intensification/ regenerative efforts in our present time and condition. needless to say, the interest is spurred much by my work with the ex Boss Lady.
speaking of whom, did i mention that i still owe her an essay?
incidentally, did anyone other than Joanna see the Roving Exhibition?
anyway, i've got readings to attend to right now. will write more when i find the time--and i will find the time, but before that, i'd really like to see some of your NUS peeps share some stories about school. this blog is getting too stale too soon.

i haven't thought of names for the monkey or dog, but sio has taken to calling the monkey "Dog" and the dog "Monkey".
i do, however, have a secret name for the monkey....... it'd be its secret middle name.
my friend suggested Huang Mao for the monkey because of its turf of yellow hair.
and cute right? you should come here and give them a hug. they're the most huggable things i've had in a long while. a lot of new toys don't seem to be made for hugging. -sad-
