despite the bad semester, i guess i'd just put up my stupid design for review anyway, especially since i had such tremendous help and support from the likes of ameliadollars, sheree, aaron, kelly and kik. many many thanks to all those who came to make it all happen anyhow.
i mentioned some time earlier that the studio was supposed to propose an alteration to an identified modernist building in australia, and i chose Australia Square by the late Harry Seidler. although the studio was framed at reviewing the ornamental operations of the context buidling, and to remotivate these operations one way or another, i failed quite miserably at focussing on the objective. reasons unknown.
as i've royally screwed up my addition proposal, i hereby name the proposal Sorry Seidler, I Fucked It Up So Bad.
prime of my motivations was to keep the original context as untouched as possible. the design had to be lightweight and easily removed from site without damaging the context. much of these conservatory movements were made in light of the heritage value of the context. (and maybe too much time spent indulging in conservation research prior to starting school here.)
despite all that has passed, my mind can't seem to stop thinking about what else could have occurred. so instead of dreaming sweet nothings last night, i woke up with some ideas of how a different approach might have brought about something more erm... relevant?
during the course of the semester--and in one of my weekly exercises, i explored ways in which we could subtract and add elements of the context to graft new opportunities (see above). and although i never managed to bring them to fruition, i suspect they would have been much better strategies to deal with the brief.
so i spent a good two hours last night producing the four diagrams, two of which i felt could have had more potential:...

.
let's see everyone else's project outcomes for this semester? raw images are fine.

i have no idea what you're talking about. me being anon- aki student.
but i can say that i think your last 2 diagrams look potentially brilliant, they also look as though they might just topple with a big gust of wind.
spindly the legs are.
like, a ballerina.
but what do i know.
