"beauty and pleasure".

following the previous post, another email chalked full of sagely wisdom on the contemplation of architecture when depressed.

Dear d,

I am sorry to hear that things are bit rough for you. It seems to me that there are two kinds of difficulties here. If it is about what is or what is not architecture, then it should be a pleasurable problem. But this does not appear to be the case. Perhaps the thing about architecture is not quite the real problem, but of course it compounded the larger feeling of 'depression'.

One way to look at this is to be peaceful with oneself; to accept, first of all, what is already you. This is the condition for all of us to begin our lives, and to construct our aspirations. I do this from time to time, it keeps me sane. As to the architectural stuff, I think it will resolve itself, once you are in a better state of reception. There is beauty and pleasure everywhere you see in life, even in architecture. But that requires a state of mind that you probably do not have yet.

Take care,
y

you DO know wat u want in life. in architecture. in design. in ur principles and beliefs.

but u lack a comrade. u feel lonely. u feel alienated. u feel as if ur invested self belief is a mere social concept that is hiding real truths. u feel ur princples are self defense mechanisms against what society deems as incompetence. u feel patronised, condescended.

one day u will find that comrade. ur brother/sister in arms. ur evil twin. whatever u call it. and u will find that balance in life u have always sought to maintain that fragile line between despair and joy.

that comrade... will be found within YOURSELF. u are a gemini. start searching. hehz.
