hmm this brings me to another perturbing problem. the fundamental problem.
i have been dismissive of the pseudo bourgeoise lifestyles of the middle class who yearn for nothing for imageable condominiums and shopping malls with cheesy names, but it is THEM who are driving the architectural scene and in fact the bulk of the capitalist market.
i have an entire industry ridden with bureacracy and academia, as well as armchair criticism and lip service. those who preach but do little to help. they maintain a stranglehold on the resources and means to design, much less to say, build.
the enlightened people who truly makes and builds their lifestyles are usually poor and have little say in the eliticist democratic system which we propagate. the majority of the masses live in a bubble of foucauldian control believing that the aesthetics of built form is limited to their box in the sky which chained them to 20 years of mortgage. either way, they neither have the means nor the needs for my services.
who do i design for? how do i design? why design? what kind of design?
i probably found my dissertation topic liaoz haha

sounds interesting...might i suggest you focus on the minority ('enlightened' people who are NOT poor and who have much to say) instead cos i know they do exist and i always found them rather more intriguing than the stupid ones.
good luck!
