this is just a small note as a follow-up to a conversation i had with sio a month or two ago. while walking from our apartment to dinner, drinks, or something, she asked why so many offices in the tall towers were still lit at night when clearly no one was working.
i remarked that i read about cities stipulating night lighting requirements on building owners as part of a show of the characteristics of urban culture (night lighting, not legal requirements), but i wasn't sure. recalling that conversation just five minutes ago, i googled singapore's light/ing plan, lo and behold, i found a press release, "Singapore's Skyline Set to Sparkle With New Lighting Plan" (24 Mar 2006), from URA delineating new guidelines for "creating a memorable image at night" via lights.
most cities have their own light plans too.
so now you know...
