before i forget, joanna and i have always thought that--just as how we intern at firms to figure if we like architecture--the best way to figure out if architecture school were good for one is to implement an apprenticeship for apprentices (aka students). i mean, clearly aki school is a life of its own--quite apart and different from work-life, or really life as we know it--that open house days do not nearly come close to exposing.
i was trying to lend some advice to this fella as he'd been wondering if he should take up his offer for aki@nus. despite trying my best, i couldn't be partial about my take on aki@nus. what i did advise, however, is that he try to assist someone near submission time, and sit through for the crit as well. that is after all when the essense of aki school-life distils itself into the good week just before submission deadlines. of course, the experience of the apprentice will not nearly be that of the student, but compared to open-house and hearsay, this opportunity would definitely be more enlightening.
the school should pitch that idea in the prospectus, arrange for students to take up these pre-undergrad apprentices, and even offer the scheme to visitors at open house days.

on another note, i'm piqued by whoever surfed here from w3privacy.com; i reckon it's an inside job?
