this afternoon's running around with mexiao was smooth going -- sio was supposed to join us, but she decided to sleep-in instead. the panel turned out much nicer printed out, although upon inspection did i realise that the serial vision captures weren't as wisely chosen as they could have been. anyway, there were so many signs that FedEx was FTW* while we were at Peace Centre, that we decided to hop down to Concourse where one of their offices is located.
things went well, the lady who served us was kind enough to help us find the best and smallest box possible to lighten the load so that we might reduce cost. She tried her best, and that came up to a total of S$152/= (split among the four of us, that's 38 buck$ per head -- payable to mexiao) from the original S$205/=.
i mean... it is quite nice...
-shameless-
:p
someone, "our seven-word motto should be: mexiao, sio, yaoks and dee should win..."

while waiting for the busy people at Poster Connection (Peace Centre) to attend to me, i was looking at the panels of what i suppose was the work of a student from interior architecture/ interior design/ interior-what-cha-ma-call-it-thesedays. the renderings the guy had in his panels were really impressive, and really brought out the spaces that he had conceptualised. this, however, brings me to the point of the architect's space-making efforts.
if an IA were capable of such brilliant space-altering experience, where then lies the architect's responsibility in space-making. Boss Lady threw a thought some weeks ago, commenting that the space given by the form of the recently gazetted Blessed Sacrament Church is truly beautiful. she further wondered why architects have of late lost the ability to "carve" out similar spatial experience. i thought our reliance on the IDs to doll up our designs were partly an answer to it, though i'm not sure if our own preoccupation with the surface exteriority of things were also contributory. then from time to time, there're other aspects that we're trying to address like technology, social, or -gasp- even symbolic/ theoretical treatises.
whatever the reason might be, perhaps we should give it a deeper thought before we embark on coming up with our next beautifully minimalistic box or "shee-shor" designs.

i'm so glad to be home and having this little free time to sit in front of my home computer, but at the same time, i miss school because i don't get to see Wabbit at home. grrrrrrl... a cat-and-wabbit game, this, with role-reversal of course!
well, back to DDS in a few hours, have much to do.

notes:
* FTW = for the win.
p/s: sio, yaoks and mexiao: we should meet for a celebratory lunch -- pretend we won anyway, and also return mexiao our share of the FedEx fee.
