the past month of studio studio studio

The past month has been an intensive work (and occasional drunkard play) phase for me and my studio mates. Following up from my previous posted individual work w.r.t slime mold and other studio stuff (not posted yet), we have managed to do the impossible and attained a studio space (a model workshop) to work in:



Basically we have a huge ass site and we needed to fit in an aged care community, a child care centre (the one i am focusing on), research facilities, public programs and since we are designing for yr 2050 we have done future research as well. After tmr's mid sem crit we'd be zooming in on specific areas to work on.

prep for crit..a plastic system in which when closed will reveal an image of slime mold but when opened will reveal our work. Each strip represents a section of our research (i.e. future systems) and can be read with another strip opened to the correct panel. some images:

crit panel consists of jono from kokkugia, paul minifie, pia my tutor from sial and other random people present.



because this is an experimental studio, meaning there's no brief and the whole studio is working together, it been a real experience; difficult but interesting. I reckon nus needs a tutor like pia. she works in a manner thats so risky but meaningful as she herself is unaware of the next step until that something emerges and then she guides us into a step further. its messy, exciting, motivating and very very scary..but i have a good feeling about this. watch out for this space at the end of the semester!
