projek potluck akitekture.

here's another idea that i've been toying with.

we've been toying with the idea of passing our own projects onto different people to work on at a different time. since that obviously didn't come true because we don't want someone else to mess with our grades, i'm wondering if we could do some simple potluck architecture.

my idea would be to i've got another idea of starting a simple brief, a simple idea of intervention, and then passing that onto someone else for say a week for work, then on to someone else, etc. each time someone receives the project, SHe would just post a rough proposal of what SHe aims to achieve, and then work on it. finishing that, post it up for review on the blog before it is passed onto the next person. the process repeats itself until we've come full circle to the last person.

what say the rest of you?

it sounds feasible. we definately gotta have a trial run to beef up this proposal. as with any good idea, i forsee some initial problems.

i'm not being skeptical. in fact i think this exercise would really benefit anyone student. i always believe in peer learning/interaction, and disapprove of students who only worked at home and never used the studio.

another reason why i'm 100% supportive of any idea such as this is that it would throw us out of our school comfort zone and expose us to the working conditions in any design/architecture firm whereby besides having a group of people working on a project, there exists a different hierarchy of authority. i'm not saying it will or should happen in this exercise but one could learn to develope an openness to listen and appreciate another perspective, stay motivated and discard any form of negative self defense (i.e. argue for the sake of argueing and not willing to listen).

am i right to say that everyone just works on the same brief but at different times? or is one supposed to refine the previous scheme? if such, is this last person given the responsibilty to "complete" the design?
